Thesis’ Concluding Chapter

The main aims of the current research are to identify the stylistic figures in Mariama Bâ’s Une si longue lettre and Cheikh Kane’s L’Aventure ambiguë, compare them with their respective English translations, identify possible challenges arising from the translations as well as the translational strategies used by the translator, and the implications of the target versions for their readers.

The study is grounded on the stylistic debate in translation, according to existing research, which implies that literary translation should account for both themes and the artistic tendencies embedded in the text, as well as the translational techniques suitable for a good representation of authorial voice (Tanyitiku 4).
